We’ve all heard the question.

Which came first? the chicken or the egg?

The same sort of dilemma arises for newcomers to the arena of on-line business building.

  • What do I do first?
  • Do I have to find a network marketing company? Do I promote the product or the opportunity?
  • Do I create a web-site or a blog-site? What exactly is a blog anyways?
  • Where do I buy advertising? Do I advertise myself? or my web-site? or my product? my opportunity?
  • If I create it will they just come?
  • Am I unique enough?
  • How will anybody ever find me among the millions of other web-sites out there?

They are all great questions. important questions.

And I get to respond to your questions by asking you some questions:

  • Do you have a clear cut idea of what you want to do on-line?
  • Do you have a product or an opportunity to sell and enough knowledge about it to discuss, teach and excite people?
  • Do you know who you are going to sell to?
  • How much start-up cash do you available for this adventure?
  • How much time are you willing to spend to create your on-line presence?
  • How much knowledge about building a website do you currently have?

Ready to get started?

Do you have a clear cut idea of what you want to do on-line?

If you are clear about just what you would do on-line and what your business would look like, you are way ahead of many others in this space. That said, as you proceed toward your goals, you will be on the learning curve. Don’t be afraid to rethink an idea, or change lanes somewhat as you go. One of my favourite sayings is “Perfect is a moving target in this business!”

If you are unclear about what to do online – the concept just sounds like a possibility and it would certainly be great to create a comfortable retirement income – then you are in good company. Many of us started this way.

The first thing you should be doing is looking inward. As you do that, it is important you dump modesty and self-deprecation out the window. You need to list your strengths, your abilities and your interests. You also need to recruit the people around you who support, respect you and recognize your talents and ask them what they see as your strengths and talents. You might be surprised at some of the answers!

Oh! and I may have forgotten to mention you have to write this all down.  Right!  pen to paper… or at least fingers to keyboard.

Do you have a product or an opportunity to sell and enough knowledge about it to discuss it, then teach and excite people?

There are a lot of people who join MLMs because their friend said a product would be good for them, or maybe just even to support a loved one in their income-earning efforts. Are you that person?

If you want to promote a product or an opportunity, you have to be able to answer the questions of the most inquisitive buyers out there. That means you need to understand your product from the inside out and know enough about the condition it helps to prove yourself “an expert.”

Being an expert doesn’t mean you need a doctor’s certificate, it just means you know enough to answer bold, possibly doubtful, questions about your product – by teaching; you can’t get defensive.

If you love the money-making opportunity of a company, you will need to know enough about the background and research of that company to prove their worth in a market saturated by “unparalleled opportunity.” Again, you don’t need to write a dissertation, you just need to be able to state, with confidence, your company’s track record, background and mission statement.

Your confidence and knowledge, or lack of same, will be the deal-breakers in many instances.

Do you know who you are going to sell to?

This is not the easy question many people think it is.

You need to have a client profile in mind before you can develop your business. A detailed client profile.

The reason for this is that, first of all, not everyone will want to buy your product. Second of all, if you want to keep their attention, you will need to be talking to people who will treat you and respect you as an authority.

If you sell fitness supplements, for example, can you hold the attention of fitness professionals with years in the business, or are you more comfortable talking to women your own age who are really wanting to up their fitness level and are interested in hearing information from someone more like themselves.

If you are interested in skin care, can you attract young people who still have perfect skin, or would you rather show your great results to mid-agers who are not impressed with the onset of crow’s feet and age spots?

There is a lot to consider in order to be an expert in the eyes of your audience.

The good news is that you will get better as time goes by. No matter who your target market is, you are going to get the tough questions… and you will go learn more… and become more expert!

How much start-up cash do you available for this adventure? and

How much time are you willing to spend to create your on-line presence?

These questions do not necessarily go hand in hand, but to create a well-rounded business of any description, you will have to spend some money and you need to be willing to put in the time and the effort. There are no overnight successes (no matter what they tell you!) and education and dedication are still the best ways to get on top of a new endeavour.

On-line is ever-developing and the best way to stay on top of the changes is to lean into a team. There are several great coaching teams out there and I belong to two of the best. You can start for a modest sum, get yourself going, and then make a higher level financial commitment to your business as you gain confidence and get a clearer picture of just what you want to create online.

If you have, however, decided to blow this endeavour out of the water, and neither time nor money are issues, then click the Contact link at the bottom of the page and we can discuss the Fast-Track method: Immersion Business Building! You will definitely reap what you sow!!

How much knowledge about building a website do you currently have? Tune in tomorrow for this discussion because I believe it is a blog post all of its own.

Well. I don’t often write posts this long. I believe it is time, though, for you to really take charge of your dreams and create the income to live them. I don’t believe there is any other way to expect to live your dreams except to become the chair of the planning committee.

I have given you some serious questions to consider here and trying to sort it all by yourself can be overwhelming.

My recommendation is to spend a very small amount of money right now and invest in finding a direction for your online business. The Irresistible Brand Blueprint is the foundation of my mentor’s course Branded. Natasha is now a presenter for some of the biggest names in the business and, having been a student of hers for a year now, I can speak to both her business acumen and her tenacity in bringing the answers out of people.

I honestly believe that you will up-grade into the full Branded course, so you can jump in now, or get your feet wet with the Irresistible Brand Blueprint.

Your call. Only you know your commitment and confidence levels.
