The New York Times reported that “According to a recent survey, 81 percent of people feel that they have a book in them…and should write it.” However, the statistics for people who actually A) begin pursuing this dream and B) achieve this dream are far from 80%. In fact, estimates suggest the number less than 5%. Are you part of the 81%? AND are you part of the <5%?
I’m a closet novelist. I have been writing stories for as long as I can remember. And, yes, I always thought I had the great Canadian novel in me. Who knows, maybe one day that flame will ignite in me again but, for now, it is on the back burner. I love blogging! As well as being a business venture this blog has given me an outlet for all the writing I have simmering inside me!
Did you answer yes to the two questions above? Then you have yet another reason to consider doing this. My team can coach you through all the technical stuff and then all you have to do is write. And you know what happens when you write? You guide yourself to your passion. That’s why I’m here. I started blogging about ElderCare, but the more I wrote the more I realized there are many, many women out there who are doing all the same things I did, and stressing out over the same financial consequences of their dedication to loved ones. All this while the economy continues to wreak havoc on any savings they thought they had. The government made their announcements around our pension plans in early 2012 and my course was set!
You, of course, have your own interests. Blogging will turn them into passions as others start tuning in to listen to you. Or maybe you will morph like I did.
At any rate, if you have any interest in writing, join us! The business side of all this presents itself as you spend more time learning all the ins and outs of on-line marketing. It’s like going to an all-inclusive, except you don’t need dinner rings or beach bodies!
I’ve written a couple of books and have had a publisher ask me a few times for a book, but I keep putting them off (I make WAY more self-publishing). I have two more books set to come out next year (one is a compilation I am arranging with others). You could always take a bunch of your blogs posts and turn that into a book! 🙂
I love reading your blog posts, Agnes. I agree that we all have a book in us. I have 2 written in my head that are bursting to come out. Thanks for the reminder!
I agree, Agnes, and I’m with you about having that “burning” inside to write a book! Blogging sometimes sidetracks me from book writing, in fact!
What is your business? I will have to look through your website more thoroughly! Thanks so much – it’s been great to me you!
Love reading your posts Agnes. I never had the urge to write a book, but since starting an online course where we are encouraged to give away a free book or report in order to build our list, I seem to be going in that direction! It is still a bit of a struggle and does not come naturally yet, but as they say “practice makes perfect!”
Hi Agnes, for sure we all have stories to tell and probably we could all write a book too.
One of the reasons I blog is exactly as you stated above:
“the more I realized there are many, many women out there who are doing all the same things I did, and stressing out over the same ”
Except my topic is about my passion which is getting and living healthy and fit, inside and out.
Thanks for sharing,
Evey
Hi Agnes
I think your style of writing is great and I am sure you have a book inside you.
Have you decided what your book would be about? I do believe that we all have a book inside us but I know that for me I would never be able to write one as I would be too hard on myself and never get it finished
Hope you find the chance to write your book
Kerris
Hi Agnes, Great post. Like you, I enjoy writing but have found blogging to be the best answer. I feel accomplished after writing a blog post due to the short length. Plus, I am not sure I have the attention span to write an entire novel. 🙂
I’m not sure I’ve got a book in me, well at least not a novel. I’ve tried and subsequently quit NaNoWriMo about 5 times – so this is probably just up my street.
Hi Agnes…
I really think I need to write a book…
I would appreciate it if you could review the post below…
it was touch writing that… Your the first person I am showing the link too.

Hi Agnes,
How do I join the group of aspiring book writers?
Nice easy read, and comforting (and at the same time distressing) to know that I am not the only one who do not get around to making that book a reality.
